CAMEROON BAPTIST CONVENTION (CBC), DEPARTMENT OF EVANGELISM
AND MISSIONS – SOCIAL MINISTRY
The Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC) is the most prominent Baptist body in
Cameroon. The CBC operates an effective coordinated network of over 1,500 churches in Cameroon in all 10 Regions. In addition, the CBC operates one of the country’s largest non-governmental Health and Education systems. The CBC operates through 10 central Departments headed by Directors with one Chief Executive Officer called the Executive President. The Department of Evangelism and Missions (DEM) set up a coordination unit for social ministry in 2019 to respond to the humanitarian needs resulting from the armed conflict in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon and also to coordinate the social ministry activities of the Cameroon Baptist Convention.
The Social Ministry has, since 2019, reached out to thousands of individuals and
households with food, financial, health, education, shelter, counselling and livelihood assistance in several divisions and communities in the North West, South West, Littoral and West Regions of Cameroon. These interventions were made possible with the help of some partners like the North American Baptist Conference (NAB), Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), Missions21 (M21), and the European Union (EU), to name a few.
