Past Activities of Organisation
Strengthening the Capacities of Youths as Peace Builders in the North West and South West Regions
The project targeted community youth leaders and youths (persons of age 18-35 years) in the North West, Southwest and West regions of Cameroon. It aimed at developing the skills of youth in these regions to face the challenges of the ongoing arm conflict in the NW and SW regions that has habitually spilled into the West region. This project engaged young people and youth organisations from conflict-stricken NW and SW regions, providing them with a positive experience of learning and living together, allowing dialogue and conflict transformation activities based on human rights. In essence this project strengthened the capacity of 210 young people as peace builders in the West, North West and South West. The workshop sessions were held in Buea, Bamenda and Bafoussam from 2020 – 2021
Strengthening the Capacities of Youths in Curbing the Spread of COVID 19 in Cameroon through Print and Social Media Sensitization
The activities carried out during the workshops were sensitization campaigns for barbers and hair dressers, WASH activities, Focus Group Discussions and the administration of questionnaires. Beneficiaries were cautioned to respect COVID 19 barrier measures.
LiveSafe PlaySafe
LiveSafe PlaySafe program is an initiative of our organization aimed at promoting the wellbeing and healthy development of children and adolescents. Through school visits, we engage students in educational and interactive sessions that address key topics such as reproductive health, safety, and the importance of recreational activities. Our program emphasizes on gender-balance games, ensuring that both boys and girls have equal opportunities to participate, learn and grow. By fostering a safe and inclusive environment, we equipe young people with the knowledge and skills needed for a healthy, productive future.
Youth Festival of Arts and Culture (Youth FESTAC)
Youth FESTAC is the first of its kind in the North West Region of Cameroon. The goal of the festival is to promote, stimulate innovation and youth participation within the cultural industries, making Bamenda a cultural hub in the nation and beyond. By doing this we are encouraging the participation of young people in cultural expression as well as promoting intercultural dialogue and social cohesion. During the festival, we have a host of groups consisting of children and youths who participate in various activities to display their talents and abilities through dance, cultural display, fashion exhibition, and craft exhibition, all for cash prizes. The event since 2023 holds yearly, in commemoration of the International Day of the African Child, celebrated on June 16th.
Vocational Training for Young People
In a society where women and girls are most vulnerable, the Vocational Training Skills Center Bamendankwe strives to provide a fulfilling learning environment where women and girls in the conflict stricken North West Region of Cameroon, can acquire vocational skills that will lead to decent works. This Skills Center has since 2019 been able to empower over 84 young girls and women in the conflict stricken North West, to acquire vocational skills in Tailoring, Hair Dressing/Makeup, ICT, Pastry, Beads making amongst others, empowering them with startup kits that will lead to decent earnings.
